Overnight Digest: Stocks likely to be in focus on August 17

Keep an eye on these stocks for Wednesday's trading session.

The domestic markets maintained a positive momentum through the trading session supported by optimistic global cues and a few domestic factors which caused a rally in realty, automobile and banking stocks. Sensex ended 379.43 points or 0.64 per cent up at 59,842.21 while Nifty settled 127.10 points or 0.72 per cent up at 17,825.30 level. 

HDFC Life, Adani Ports, Eicher Motors, BPCL and Maruti Suzuki were among the major Nifty gainers. The losers included Grasim Industries, Hindalco Industries, SBI, Bharti Airtel and JSW Steel.

Apollo TyresThe shares of Apollo Tyres soared beyond 6 per cent in a favourable market today. The company reported its Q1FY23 results. It clocked a 49 per cent year-on-year growth in consolidated profit, which stood at Rs 190.7 crore for the quarter ended June 2022. High operating income and top-line lifted the bottom line. The company’s revenue improved 30 per cent to Rs 5,942 crore compared to the year-ago period.  

Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone and Navkar Corporation- Adani Logistics, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ), has signed a definitive agreement to acquire the ICD ‘Tumb’ (Vapi) from Navkar Corporation for an enterprise value of Rs 835 crore. The shares of Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone zoomed over 4 per cent during Tuesday's trading session. On the contrary, the shares of Navkar Corporation opened higher today but later, tumbled up to 20 per cent. 

Finolex Cables - The shares of Finolex Cables gained around 3.5 per cent on an intraday basis. It is observed that on the charts, the share is trading in an upward direction and has crossed the 200-DMA line in today's trading session. The shares also registered a new six-month high price on Tuesday. The RSI has also given a positive breakout while its shares are trading with decent volumes. Keep a watch on this stock for the upcoming trading sessions.  

Price volume breakout stocks - In today's trading session, among the stocks that saw a price volume breakout, some of the popular names comprised of Gujarat Alkalies And ChemicalsMax Healthcare Institute, Escorts Kubota, Chalet Hotels and Sequent Scientific. These stocks are likely to be on investors' radar for Wednesday's trading session.
