November auto sales data: Maruti & Bajaj Auto delivers marginal sales growth
Maruti Suzuki India reported a marginal increase of 1.7 per cent YoY in the total sales with 1,53,223 units sold in November 2020, in comparison to over 1,50,360 units sold in November 2019. This includes 1,44,219 units in the domestic & original equipment manufacturer (OEM) market sales and 9,004 units of exports. Meanwhile, under the mini & compact segment, the company registered a 5.1 per cent YoY decline in sales while under the passenger cars segment; it registered a 4.7 per cent YoY decline in sales. Exports jumped by 29.7 per cent YoY.
Ashok Leyland, which offers a range of trucks & heavy vehicles, posted muted numbers for the month of November 2020. The total number of vehicles sold in November 2020 was 10,659, showing a 5 per cent YoY rise. The domestic sales increased by 4 per cent with the sales of 9,727 vehicles in November 2020. The total sales of M&HCV declined by 14 per cent YoY whereas, the sale of light commercial vehicles (LCV) grew by 32 per cent YoY.
Bajaj Auto posted a jump in total sales by 5 per cent in November 2020, with 4,22,240 units being sold. The sale of two-wheelers jumped by 12 per cent YoY whereas, the sales of commercial vehicles (CV) dropped by 38 per cent YoY.
Looking at the stock movements of the automakers, the stock of Maruti Suzuki made an intraday high of Rs 7,120 (up by 1.3 per cent), Bajaj Auto made an intraday high of Rs 3,236.60 (up by 2 per cent) while Ashok Leyland made an intraday high of Rs 93.85 (up by 2 per cent) on BSE.
