The last trading session of the week was a sea of red on D-Street. The NSE benchmark Nifty began the day above 24,800, reaching a fresh all-time high of 24,855 before quickly losing momentum and extending its downtrend as the day progressed. Nifty closed at 24,530.90, down 269.95 points or 1.09 per cent.
On the daily chart, a sizable bearish candle formed at the top with above-average volumes, signaling caution among market participants. Moreover, all sectoral indices ended in the red, and the broader market also declined by over 2 per cent. In fact, the Nifty50 index witnessed its sharpest single-day decline since June 4, with several sectoral indices experiencing their steepest falls since the same date.
