Market Wrap: Nifty and Sensex ends lower; Nifty Realty and Pharma shines!

Ahead of the final trading day of May, stock futures remained steady on Tuesday evening as investors closely monitored the federal debt ceiling discussion in Washington.

Market update at 3:30 PM: Nifty ends on a lower note by 0.59 per cent below 18,600 whereas Sensex ends lower by 0.55 per cent below 62,700.

Nifty Midcap surged by 0.38 per cent and on the other hand Nifty Smallcap surged significantly by 1.17 per cent per cent.

Nifty Realty, Pharma and Media were among the top performing sectors whereas Nifty Energy, Financial Services and Metal were among the top losing sectors as of now.

HDFC Life, Bharti Airtel and Tech Mahindra were among the top performing stocks from the Nifty 50 whereas ONGC, NTPC and Axis Bank were among the top losing stocks from the Nifty 50.

 

Market Update at 2:25 PM: Sensex slips by 0.68 per cent to trade below 62,600 while Nifty 50 slides by 0.67 per cent to trade below 18,600.

Nifty Midcap has surged marginally by 0.04 per cent and on the other hand, Nifty Smallcap has surged by 0.51 per cent.

India VIX has surged by 1.08 per cent.

Nifty Pharma, IT and Media are among the top performing sectors whereas Nifty Financial Services, Bank and Energy are among the top losing sectors as of now.

Suzlon, Infibeam Avenues and NMDC Steel are among the top performing stocks from the Nifty 500 whereas KRBL Ltd, Rhi magnesita India and Campus Activewear are among the top losing stocks from the Nifty 500.

 

Market Update at 12:15: Sensex slips by 0.84 per cent to trade below 62,500 while Nifty 50 slides by 0.71 per cent to trade below 18,600.

Nasdaq 100 futures are down by 0.38 per cent whereas Dow Jones Futures are down by 0.41 per cent.

Nifty Midcap is down by 0.18 per cent and on the other hand Nifty Smallcap is up by 0.12 per cent.

India VIX has surged by 2.33 per cent.

Nifty Pharma and IT are the only sectors that are trading positively whereas all the other sectors are trading negatively.

Suzlon, Craftsman Automation and CDSL are among the top performing stocks from the Nifty 500 whereas KRBL Ltd, Rhi magnesita India and Campus Activewear are among the top losing stocks from the Nifty 500.

 

Market Update at 10:45 AM: Nifty 50 slides by 96 points to trade below 18,600 level while Sensex slides by 342 points to trade below 62,700 level.

While Nifty 50 and Sensex experience a different trend, Nifty Midcap and Smallcap are displaying a contrasting performance, with Nifty Midcap trading up by 0.06 per cent and Smallcap trading up by 0.45 per cent.

India VIX plunges by 3.08 per cent.

Nifty Pharma, IT and Media are among the top performing sectors whereas Nifty Energy, Metal and Financial Services are among the top losing sectors.

HDFC Life, Apollo Hospitals and Tech Mahindra are among the top ganing stocks from the Nifty 50 whereas Coal India, SBI and ONGC are amongst the top losing stocks from the nifty 50 until now.

 

Market Update at 9:25 AM: Nifty opens lower by 0.38 per cent to below 18,600 level, whereas Sensex opens lower by 0.39 per cent below 62,800 levels.

Nifty Midcap declines by 0.28 per cent while Nifty Smallcap declines by 0.16 per cent.

Nifty Pharma, Realty and Media among the top performing sector whereas Nifty Metal PSU Bank and Energy are among the top losing sectors.

India VIX plunges by 2.75 per cent.

 

Market Update at 8:15 AM: On Wednesday Nifty 50 is expected to open slightly lower as indicated by the SGX Nifty, with the broader index showing a negative start and a decline of 64 points after initially opening the session at 18,673.

Ahead of the final trading day of May, stock futures remained steady on Tuesday evening as investors closely monitored the federal debt ceiling discussion in Washington. Futures linked to the Dow Jones Industrial Average experienced a minor decline of 31 points. On the other hand, S&P 500 futures and Nasdaq 100 futures displayed minimal fluctuations. These futures movements followed a relatively quiet trading day on Tuesday, during which the Dow recorded a decrease of approximately 50 points, while the Nasdaq Composite experienced a 0.3 per cent increase.

In futures trading, the Dollar index experienced a 0.15 per cent decline, reaching 104.06, while the value of one dollar remained close to Rs 82.68. Concurrently, Brent crude futures saw a significant drop of 4.58 per cent, settling at $73.54 per barrel. Gold surged by 0.89 per cent, whereas Silver plunged marginally by 0.07 per cent.

On May 30, 2023, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) made purchases of shares amounting to Rs 2,085.62 crore, while domestic institutional investors (DIIs) sold shares worth Rs 438.93 crore.
