BSE Private Bank index turns bearish, slips 0.51 per cent; Bandhan Bank becomes top loser!
Bandhan Bank was the top loser of the index, which slipped by 3 per cent to end at Rs 310.
S&P BSE Private Bank index turned bearish and underperformed the broader indices after recording a loss of 71.25 points or 0.51 per cent while Sensex ended flat, losing a mere 18.79 points or 0.04 per cent to close at 53,140.06.
IDFC First Bank was the top gainer of the day and ended in the green, up by 1.22 per cent to close at Rs 54.05. HDFC Bank ended the session on a flat note at Rs 1,521.70, up by a paltry 0.08 per cent.
Bandhan Bank was the top loser of the index, which slipped by 3 per cent to end at Rs 310. AU Small Finance Bank also appeared weak throughout the day and closed in the red territory, losing 1.61 per cent to close at Rs 1,229.
ICICI Bank and IndusInd Bank dipped 1.06 per cent and 1 per cent, respectively. On similar lines, Federal Bank and DCB Bank lost 0.57 per cent and 0.51 per cent, closing at Rs 87.90 and Rs 108.35, respectively.
Axis Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, RBL Bank and City Union Bank also ended on a flat bearish note, down by 0.40 per cent, 0.22 per cent, 0.09 per cent, and 0.06 per cent, respectively.
