BEML secures Rs 501 crore contract for metro project
BEML, government’s miniratna company, has informed the bourses that it has received variation order to contract 'MRS1' from Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).
The order comprises of manufacturing additional 12 train sets of 6 cars each (total 72 cars) to function on line 2B and 7 of Mumbai Metro project. Its supply is expected to be completed before August 2023.
The project cost of the same is approximately Rs 501 crore. With this order win, BEML’s order book stands at Rs 4,318 crore from Rs 3,218 crore earlier.
Earlier in September 2020, BEML had secured a share of contract worth Rs 842 crore from Defence Ministry for the supply of various defence-related equipment.

BEML is a public sector undertaking headquartered in Bengaluru, in which, the government holds 54 per cent stake. It manufactures heavy earthmoving equipments, vehicles for defence industry and coaches for railways & metros.
Today, the stock of BEML gained nearly two per cent during the early trade and jumped to Rs 671.25 on BSE.
