At the pre-opening bell, the frontline index S&P BSE Sensex opened in red with a loss of 749.01 points or 0.97 per cent. By 9.15 am, the index stood at 76,669.68, signifying a gain of 709.23 points or 0.92 per cent over its previous closing.
