Market Wrap: Benchmark indices close on a negative note with Nifty Realty among the top losers!

On Thursday, Benchmark indices concluded the trading day on a negative note as Sensex declined by 0.03 per cent and closed below the 79,900 mark, while Nifty plunged by 0.03 per cent and closed below the 24,400 level.

Market Update at 3:40 PM: On Thursday, Benchmark indices concluded the trading day on a negative note as Sensex declined by 0.03 per cent and closed below the 79,900 mark, while Nifty plunged by 0.03 per cent and closed below the 24,400 level. Whereas the Broader market experienced gains as Nifty Midcap closed higher by 0.4 per cent, while Nifty Smallcap surged by 0.69 per cent.

Market volatility, as indicated by India VIX, has declined by 3.03 per cent and is trading around the level of 14 reflecting a decrease in market volatility.

Within the sectoral landscape, Nifty Media, Nifty FMCG and Nifty Energy were among the top gainers, while Nifty Realty, Nifty Pharma and Nifty Auto are the major sectors which underperformed.

ONGC, BPCL and Coal India were among the top gainers while on the other hand Tata Consumer Product, Bajaj Finance and M&M were among the top losers.

About 1426 stocks were advancing as against to 879 that were declining, thus indicating a positive sentiment in the broader market.

Market Update at 2:20 PM: In the current trading session benchmark indices trade on a negative note with the Sensex trading lower by 0.1 per cent, while Nifty plunged by 0.05 per cent. Whereas, in the broader indices Nifty Midcap has gained by 0.33 per cent, while Nifty Smallcap has surged by 0.65 per cent.

India VIX has declined by 2.2 per cent and is trading around the level of 14 indicating a decrease in market volatility.

Within the sectoral landscape, Nifty Media, Nifty Energy and Niftyy FMCG are among the top gainers while Nifty Realty, Nifty Pharma and Nifty Financial Services are the major sectors which are underperforming.

ONGC, Coal India and BPCL are among the top gainers while Bajaj Finance, Sun Pharma and Nestle India are among the top losing stocks from the Nifty 50.

About 1430 stocks are advancing as against 870 stocks that are declining, thus indicating a positive sentiment in the broader market.

 

Market Update at 12:40 PM: In the current trading session benchmark indices have declined with Sensex trading lower by 0.28 per cent while Nifty also declined by 0.2 per cent. Whereas, in the broader indices Nifty Midcap has surged by 0.08 per cent, while Nifty Smallcap has gained by 0.41 per cent.

India VIX is has declined by 1.94 per cent and is trading above the mark of 14 indicating an increase in market volatility.

European stocks are expected to open higher on Thursday as global markets look ahead to the next U.S. Inflation reading. European futures DAX, CAC and FTSE trade higher by 0.29 per cent, 0.29 per cent and 0.15 per cent respectively.

Within the sectoral landscape Nifty Media, Nifty Energy and Nifty Metal are among the top gainers while Nifty Realty, Nifty Pharma and Nifty Financial Services are among the top losers.

Coal India, ONGC and Tata Motors are among the top gainers within the Nifty 50 while, Bajaj Finance, Bajaj Auto and Nestle India are among the top losers.

About 1433 stocks are advancing as against to 875 stocks that are declining, thus indicating a positive sentiment in the broader market.

 

Market Update at 11:15 AM: In the ongoing trading session, Benchmark indices are trading on a negative note with Sensex trading moderately lower by 0.38 per cent, while Nifty plunged by 0.3 per cent. Whereas in the broader indices Nifty Midcap experience gains of 0.15 per cent, while Nifty Smallcap has surged by 0.28 per cent.

India VIX is has declined by 1.33 per cent and is trading around the mark of 14, indicating an slight decrease in market volatility.

Within the sectoral landscape, Nifty Energy, Nifty Auto and Nifty Metal are among the top gainers while Nifty Realty, Nifty Pharma and Nifty Financial Services are among the top losers.

Top gainers in individual stocks are Coal India, ONGC and BPCL whereas, Sun Pharma, Nestle India and HDFC Bank are among the top losers in the Nifty 50.

The broader market sentiment is positive, with 1387 stocks advancing compared to 913 stocks declining.

 

Market Update at 9:40 AM: On Thursday, Indian markets opened on a positive note while, the Broader indices also displayed positive performance, However, Benchmark indices experienced a sell off and are now trading below their opening levels. Nifty IT emerged as the top gainer, while Nifty FMCG experienced the largest losses.

The Sensex is trading marginally down by 0.02 per cent below the 80,000 mark while the Nifty has also declined by 0.01 per cent and is trading below the 24,400 level. Whereas, in the broader, the Nifty Midcap gained by 0.43 per cent trading above the 57,100 level while the Nifty Smallcap surged by 0.29 per cent and is trading above the 18,800 mark!

India VIX has marginally declined by 1.44 per cent and is trading above the mark of 14, indicating a slight decline in market volatility.

Within the sectoral landscape Nifty IT, Nifty Metal and Nifty PSU Bank were among the top gainers while Nifty FMCG, Nifty Pharma and Nifty Realty were major sectors which underperformed!

TCS, BPCL and Tata Motors are among the top gainers within the Nifty 50 while Nestle India, Power Grid Corporation and Sun Pharma are among the top losers.

About 1602 stocks are advancing as against to 853 stocks that are declining, thus indicating a positive sentiment in the broader market.

 

Pre-Market Update at 8:25 AM: Wall Street stocks surged on Wednesday, with major indices hitting new records as expectations for upcoming interest rate cuts gained momentum.

The S&P 500 and Nasdaq both closed at all-time highs after Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell suggested that the central bank might consider cutting rates before inflation reaches the 2 per cent target.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 1.1 per cent to 38,921.37. The S&P 500 climbed 1 per cent to 5,633.91, marking its sixth consecutive record close, while the Nasdaq Composite Index jumped 1.2 per cent, achieving its seventh straight record.

The yield on the 10-year Treasury fell to 4.28 per cent from 4.3 per cent on Tuesday, down from 4.70 percent in April. The two-year Treasury yield, more sensitive to Fed expectations, remained steady at 4.62 per cent.

The GIFT Nifty indicates a neutral start for the Indian Benchmark indices, with a slight decline of 0.01 per cent or 3.5 points. Nifty futures are currently trading near the 24,342.90 mark.

Oil prices inched up on Thursday as crude stocks decreased due to increased processing by U.S. refineries and a reduction in gasoline inventories, indicating stronger demand.

Brent futures climbed 35 cents, or 0.4 per cent, to USD 85.43 a barrel, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude rose 36 cents, or 0.5 per cent, to USD 82.47 a barrel.

On July 10, 2024, foreign institutional investors (FII) bought shares worth Rs 583.96 crore, while domestic institutional investors (DII) bought shares worth Rs 1,082.40 crore.

Stocks that are banned for trading in the F&O segment on July 11, 2024, are ABFRL, BALRAMCHIN, BANDHANBNK, CHAMBLFERT, GNFC, IEX, INDIACEM, INDUSTOWER, PEL and RBLBANK.
