A strong positive breakout is seen in these stocks; do you own them?

In the face of mixed global trends, Nifty 50 began flat with an upward bias. Keep an eye out for stocks that have seen a strong positive breakout.

On Tuesday, Nifty 50 began flat with an upward bias at 17,160.55, up from its previous closing of 17,154.3. This was due to mixed global signals. Major Wall Street indices finished mixed on Monday, with some investors believing that the financial shock caused by the Silicon Valley Bank episode may prompt the US Federal Reserve to halt interest rate rises.

In overnight trade, Nasdaq Composite rose 0.45 per cent, Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.28 per cent and S&P 500 dipped 0.15 per cent. Nonetheless, at the time of writing, their respective futures were trading in the green. Asian market indices were trading mixed, mirroring the overnight action on Wall Street. Except for Australia's S&P ASX 200, all other indices were trading in the red, with Japan's Nikkei 225 index and South Korea's KOSPI hitting the most.

Nifty 50 was trading at 17,072.7 at 10:35 a.m., up 81.6 points or 0.48 per cent. Frontline indices, on the other hand, outperformed broader market indices. Nifty Mid-Cap 100 index fell 0.87 per cent and Nifty Small-Cap 100 index slid 1.2 per cent.

The advance-decline ratio on the BSE was unfavourable, with 961 stocks rising, 2163 falling and 118 staying unchanged. All the sectors were trading negative with PSU banks, realty and IT losing the most.

FIIs were net sellers, while DIIs were net purchasers, according to statistics as of March 14. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) sold Rs 1,546.86 crore worth of shares. Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) invested Rs 1,418.58 crore in shares.
