Market Wrap: Benchmark indices close on a positive note with Nifty Realty among the top gainers!

On Thursday, Benchmark indices concluded trading day on a positive note as Sensex gained by 0.18 per cent and closed at 77,478.93 level, while Nifty gained by 0.22 per cent closed at 23,567 level.

Market Update at 3:40 PM: On Thursday, Benchmark indices concluded trading day on a positive note as Sensex gained by 0.18 per cent and closed at 77,478.93 level, while Nifty gained by 0.22 per cent closed at 23,567 level. Similarly, the Broader market also experienced substantial gains as Nifty Midcap closed significantly higher by 0.95 per cent, while Nifty Smallcap surged by 0.61 per cent.

Market volatility, as indicated by India VIX, has declined by 2.48 per cent and is trading around the level of 13 reflecting a decrease in market volatility.

Within the sectoral landscape, Nifty Realty, Nifty Metal and Nifty Bank were among the top gainers, while Nifty Pharma, Nifty Auto and Nifty PSU Bank were among the top losers.

Hindalco, Grasim and BPCL were among the top gainers while on the other hand Hero Motocorp, Sun Pharma and M&M were among the top losers.

About 1494 stocks were advancing as against to 816 that were declining, thus indicating a positive sentiment in the broader market.

Market Update at 2:10 PM: In the current trading session benchmark indices trade on a positive note with the Sensex trading higher by 0.11 per cent, while Nifty marginally gained by 0.14 per cent. Similarly, in the broader indices Nifty Midcap has surged by 0.7 per cent, while Nifty Smallcap has gained by 0.58 per cent.

India VIX is currently trading lower by 1.29 per cent and is trading around the level of 13 indicating slight decrease in market volatility.

Within the sectoral landscape, Nifty Metal, Nifty Realty and Nifty Bank are among the top gainers while Nifty Auto, Nifty Pharma and Nifty PSU Bank are among the major sectors which are underperforming.

Hindalco, JSW Steel and Adani Ports are among the top gainers while Hero Motocorp, M&M and Sun Pharma are among the top losing stocks from the Nifty 50.

About 1490 stocks are advancing as against 825 stocks that are declining, thus indicating a positive sentiment in the broader market.

 

Market Update at 12:45 PM: In the current trading session benchmark indices trade on a positive note as Sensex has marginally gained by 0.08 per cent, while Nifty has marginally gained by 0.11 per cent. Similarly, in the broader indices Nifty Midcap has gained by 0.66 per cent, while Nifty Smallcap has soared by 0.68 per cent.

India VIX is has declined by 1.68 per cent and is trading around the mark of 13 indicating slight decrease in market volatility.

European markets are expected to open higher on Thursday as European futures DAX, CAC and FTSE trade higher by 0.43 per cent, 0.15 per cent and 0.36 per cent respectively.

Within the sectoral landscape Nifty Metal, Nifty Realty and Nifty Energy are among the top gainers while Nifty Pharma, Nifty Auto and Nifty IT are among the top losers.

Hindalco, JSW Steel and BPCL are among the top gainers within the Nifty 50 while, M&M, Sun Pharma and Hero Motocorp are among the top losers.

About 1596 stocks are advancing as against to 719 stocks that are declining, thus indicating a positive sentiment in the broader market.

 

Market Update at 11:10 AM: In the ongoing trading session, Benchmark indices are trading on a positive note with Sensex trading higher by 0.1 per cent, while Nifty gained by 0.15 per cent. Similarly, in the broader indices Nifty Midcap experience significant gain of 0.68 per cent, while Nifty Smallcap has soared by 0.69 per cent.

India VIX is has marginally gained by 0.31 per cent and is trading above the mark of 13, indicating slight increase in market volatility.

Within the sectoral landscape, Nifty Metal, Nifty Realty and Nifty Energy are among the top gainers while Nifty Pharma Nifty IT and Nifty Financial Services are among the top losers.

Top gainers in individual stocks are Hindalco, BPCL and Kotak Bank whereas Sun Pharma, M&M and Bajaj Finance are among the top losers in the Nifty 50.

The broader market sentiment is positive, with 1650 stocks advancing compared to 632 stocks declining.

 

Market Update at 9:55 AM: On Thursday, Indian markets started the trading day on a negative note with the Sensex and Nifty declining, while in the broader indices, Nifty Midcap 100 and Nifty Smallcap 100 surged. Furthermore, Nifty Realty was among the top gainers while Nifty Pharma was the biggest loser.

Sensex is trading marginally lower by 0.26 per cent, while Nifty is also trading lower by 0.27 per cent.  Contrarily, in the broader indices Nifty Midcap opened higher by 0.29 per cent, while Nifty Smallcap has also surged by 0.2 per cent.

India VIX has surged by 2.2 per cent and is trading above the mark of 14, indicating slight increase in market volatility.

Within the sectoral landscape Nifty Realty, Nifty Metal and Nifty Media were among the top gainers while Nifty Pharma, Nifty FMCG and Nifty IT are the major sectors which are trading negatively.

Kotak Bank, Hindalco and Tata Motors are among the top gainers within the Nifty 50 while HDFC Life, Sun Pharma and Power Grid Corporation are among the top losers.

About 1561 stocks are advancing as against to 623 stocks that are declining, thus indicating a positive sentiment in the broader market.

 

Pre-Market Update at 9:00 AM: The US markets were closed on Wednesday in observance of the Juneteenth holiday.

On Thursday, the US 10-year Treasury yield increased by 50 basis points to 4.24 per cent, while the 2-year Treasury yield rose by 43 basis points to 4.73 per cent during early trading.

The GIFT Nifty indicates a positive start for the Indian Benchmark indices, with a slight gain of 0.07 per cent or 15 points. Nifty futures are currently trading near the 23,497 mark.

Brent crude futures increased as Israeli tanks advanced into Gaza, while US crude futures declined due to concerns over rising oil inventories.

Brent crude futures for August delivery rose by 0.11 per cent to USD 85.16 per barrel, whereas US West Texas Intermediate crude for July fell by 0.21 per cent to USD 81.40 per barrel.

On June 19, 2024, foreign institutional investors (FII) purchased shares worth Rs 7,908.36 crore, while domestic institutional investors (DII) bought shares worth Rs 7,107.80 crore.

Stocks that are banned for trading in the F&O segment on June 20, 2024, are BALRAMCHIN, CHAMBLFERT, HAL, HINDCOPPER, INDIACEM, INDUSTOWER, PEL and SAIL.
