In the morning trade, the major market indices partly erased Monday’s gains and reached their lowest level of the day. The domestic equity market declined amid conflicting global indications as traders awaited US inflation statistics that would shed some light on Federal Reserve's tapering of its stimulus programme. Energy, healthcare, oil & gas, utilities, and power saw the biggest gains while the IT sector tumbled the most. The shares of DreamFolks shares debuted in the secondary market at a premium of up to 56 percent above its issue price and trades at 472 per share. The shares of Apollo Tyres gained almost 7 percent in today's and made a new 52-week high of Rs 272.40.
At 11.12 am, Sensex was seen trading with extreme volatility. It was trading with a decline of 30 points at a level of 59,215. On the other hand, the Mid-Cap index gained 82 points and was trading at a level of 25,664. Likewise, the Small-Cap index traded with small gains of 67 points at a level of 29,124.
Nifty 50 index slid mere 6 points from its previous close, trading at a level of 17,659. Similarly, Bank Nifty dropped 24 points and is currently, trading at a level of 39,780. Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) sold shares worth Rs 811.75 crore on September 5 while domestic institutional investors (DIIs) bought shares worth Rs 533.77 crore.
