Watch out for these penny stocks locked in the upper circuit on May 27

Some of the early gains in the morning trade were made by the major equity indices. Nifty hovers around 16,300 points. The bank stocks increased for the second day in a row. 

The shares of Paradeep Phosphates Ltd (PPL) were trading at Rs 45.45, indicating an 8.21 per cent premium over the issue price of Rs 42. The auto, IT, and pharmaceutical sectoral indices remained almost 1 per cent higher. Oil & gas had a bleak start to the day with a slight decline while all other indices are up.  

BSE Sensex opened in green on the back of global cues, up by 341 points, and is trading at a level of 54,594 at 10.48 am. S&P BSE Midcap index also trades higher by 268 points and is at 22,411 levels. S&P BSE Smallcap too rose by 266 points and trades at 25,584 levels. Sensex Top Gainers include Bajaj Finance (3.98 per cent), Induslnd Bank (2.73 per cent), Bajaj Finserv (2.70 per cent), Tech Mahindra (2.08 per cent), and Kotak Mahindra Bank (1.68 per cent).     

Likewise, Nifty 50 index ascended 101 points and is trading at 16,271.85 levels. Bank Nifty also increased by 458 points and is at a level of 35,553.10. The top gainers on Nifty 50 are Bajaj Finance (3.93 per cent), HDFC Life Insurance (3.11 per cent), Induslnd Bank (2.75 per cent), Bajaj Finserv (2.68 per cent), and Tech Mahindra (2.08 per cent).  

Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) sold shares worth Rs 1,597.84 crore on May 26 while the domestic institutional investors (DIIs) bought shares worth Rs 2,906.46 crore.
