Nifty is approaching 16,000 points while auto stocks have ended a five-day losing trend. In April 2022, India's retail inflation, as measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI), increased to 7.79 per cent while Matrimony.com climbed 16.70 per cent. The company's board of directors approved a share buyback worth Rs 75 crore, at a price not exceeding Rs 1,150 per share. Tata Motors surged 9.4 per cent. In Q4FY22, the firm reported a combined net loss of Rs 1,032.84 crore, compared to Rs 7,605.40 crore in Q4 FY21.  

S&P BSE Sensex jumped 677 points to 53,608.29 at 12.11 am. S&P BSE Midcap index also scaled up by 518 points and trades at 22,163.46 levels. S&P BSE Smallcap advanced 606 points and trades at 25,601.82 levels. Sensex Top Gainers include Titan (4.81 per cent), Sun Pharmaceutical (4.10 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra (3.51 per cent), Larsen & Toubro (3.13 per cent), and Reliance Industries (2.81 per cent).   

Nifty 50 index increased by 221 points and is trading at 16,029.45 levels. Bank Nifty also witnessed a surge of 206 points at a level of 33,738.45. The top gainers on Nifty 50 are Tata Motors (9.99 per cent), Titan (4.63 per cent), Sun Pharmaceutical (4.14 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra (3.53 per cent), and Eicher Motors (3.47 per cent).  

Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) sold shares worth Rs 5,255.75 crore on May 12 while the domestic institutional investors (DIIs) bought shares worth Rs 4,815.64 crore.
