Indian stocks gained on Tuesday, following a significant rise in the previous day due to a rush of corporate profits ahead of macroeconomic data. Shares of Kansai Nerolac Paints rose more than 8 per cent among the company's shares after it announced an increase in quarterly profit for the month of March. Mahanagar Gas, a distributor of natural gas, increased by more than 6 per cent following the March quarter's positive profit after-tax announcement. Mankind Pharma had a 20 per cent increase upon going public today surging 30 per cent from its offer price.
As of 11:15 am, the BSE Sensex is trading at 61,984 levels, surging by 220 points. While the S&P BSE Mid-Cap index similarly zoomed and is trading at a level of 26,266 points, up by 171 points. The Small-Cap index is also trading higher at a level of 29,576 gaining 128 points. The NSE index NIFTY50 is trading higher by 63 points and is trading at a level of 18,328. The Bank Nifty likewise jumped by 149 points and is currently trading at a level of 43,433.
On May 08, the foreign portfolio investors bought securities worth of Rs 2,123.76 crore and the domestic institutional investors (DIIs) also were the net buyers of shares worth 245.27 crore.
