Watch out for these penny stocks locked in the upper circuit on March 8

Wall Street logged its biggest drop in more than a year as markets were jolted by another surge in oil prices.

Wall Street logged its biggest drop in more than a year as markets were jolted by another surge in oil prices.

The Indian benchmark indices tripped into the red terrain in mid-morning trade. The metal, auto, and bank sectors were underweighted. The rising crude oil prices amid continuing Russia-Ukraine crisis continued to keep the investors on the edge. The FII outflow of Rs 7,482.08 crore was seen and domestic investor inflow of Rs 5331.03 crore was seen on Monday. Also, the United States is considering acting alone to ban Russian oil imports rather than teaming up with allies in Europe, easing concerns of a wider disruption to crude supplies.

The BSE Sensex index is trading at 52,570.14, down by 272 points. The top gaining stocks today are Tech Mahindra, NTPC, TCS, Infosys, and HCL Technologies. BSE MidCap is also trading in red slightly down by 10 points at 22,099.01 points. BSE SmallCap on the other hand, has risen by 78 points and is trading at 25,760.06.

The Nifty 50 index is trading at 15,727.95 levels sliding by 135 points. The top gaining stocks are TCS, Cipla, Tech Mahindra, NTPC, and Infosys gaining more than 2 per cent each. The stocks that have declined today are ONGC, Maruti Suzuki, Eicher Motors, Bajaj Finance, and Axis Bank falling more than 3.1 per cent each.
