Buyers outnumbered sellers on the BSE, 1695 shares rose and 1,551 shares fell. A total of 136 shares were unchanged. Metal shares advanced for the sixth day in a row. The FII bought shares worth Rs 481.33 crore and the DII sold shares worth Rs 294.23 crore on March 23.
The BSE Sensex index is trading in green, up by 48 points and is trading at a level of 57,732.84. BSE MidCap is also gained by 117 points and is trading at 23,891.01 levels, SmallCap index has similarly jumped by 97 points and trades at a level of 27,944.58. The gaining stocks on BSE Sensex are Dr Reddy's Laboratories (3.41 per cent), Tata Steel (1.55 per cent), UltraTech Cement (1.36 per cent), NPTC (1.16 per cent), TCS (0.99 per cent).
The Nifty 50 index fell by 5 points and is at 17,239.85 levels. Bank Nifty has slipped by 390 points and trades at 35,757.15 levels. The major contributors of Nifty 50 are Dr Reddy's Laboratories (3.51 per cent), Cipla (1.44 per cent), Hindalco Industries (2.49 per cent), Coal India (2.19 Per cent), and Tata Steel (1.43 Per cent).
