Watch out for these penny stocks locked in the upper circuit on March 2

Brent crude futures climbed USD 3.55, or 3.4 per cent, to USD 108.52 a barrel, making new highs not seen since July 2014. The Indian rupee has depreciated by 0.16 points reaching 75.65 against the dollar. India's GDP growth dropped down to 5.4 per cent in February from 8.5 per cent the previous quarter. On the multi-commodity exchange, the gold contracts for April were up 0.03 per cent at Rs 51,830 for 10 grams at 9.51 am, but silver was down 0.21 per cent at Rs 66,856 a kilogram. 

 

The BSE Sensex index plunged by 1073 points after opening and is trading at a level of 55,173.84. The top gaining stocks today are Tata Steel, Titan, Mahindra & Mahindra, and Power Grid Corporation of India. BSE MidCap has fallen by 42 points and is trading at 23,312.75 points. BSE SmallCap, on the other hand, has increased by 78 points and is trading at 26,741.16. 

 

The Nifty 50 index is trading at 16,526.65 levels, sinking by 267 points. The top gaining stocks are Coal India, Hindalco Industries, Tata Steel, UPL, and SBI Life Insurance, rising more than 4 per cent each. The stocks that have declined today are Asian Paints, Maruti Suzuki, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, and Bajaj Auto, falling more than 3.6 per cent only.
