Watch out for these penny stocks locked in the upper circuit on February 17!

Indian markets are facing a volatile session on Thursday's early deals with Sensex and Nifty 50 swinging between positive and negative.

Indian markets are facing a volatile session on Thursday's early deals with Sensex and Nifty 50 swinging between positive and negative. Banking stocks were the major bears of today after the biggest loan fraud of nearly Rs 23,000 crore of ABG Shipyard against a consortium of banks, which shocked the sector. In the most recent development, the ED has filed a money laundering case against ABG Shipyard, its former promoters, and others involved in the loan case. BSE Bankex slipped more than 445 points currently. A sell-off was seen by the FII yesterday of Rs 1890.96 crore, and buying by the DII of Rs 1180.14 crore was recorded.  

 

The BSE Sensex index had gained by 62 points and is trading at a level of 58,059.61. The top stocks on the Index are HDFC Bank (1.46 per cent), Tata Steel (1.20 per cent), and Reliance (1.19 per cent). BSE MidCap has increased by 80 points and is trading at 24,097.11 points. The gaining stocks today in the index are Adani Power (4.69 per cent), Shriram Transport Finance (4.52 per cent), and Page Industries (3.18 per cent). BSE SmallCap has also risen today and is trading at 28,169.57, up by 7 points. The top gainers are Schaeffler (11.74 per cent), Aarti Surfactants (8.84 per cent), and Solara Active Pharma Sciences (10.00 per cent). 

 

The Nifty 50 index is trading higher by 55 points and at 17,378.05 levels. The major contributors are Tata Consumers, Bajaj Auto, HDFC Bank, Tata Motors, and JSW Steel, gaining 1.5 per cent each. The stocks in red today are UltraTech Cement, Axis Bank, ICICI Bank, Sun Pharmaceuticals, and UPL, falling more than 0.42 per cent each.
