Indian frontline indices S&P BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty50 opened and recovered most of the losses of last week. At 10 pm, Siemens Limited shares gained on Monday on news of Rs 26,000 crore worth contract it has bagged from Ministry of Railways. The stock was trading at Rs 2,858 on the NSE and was up by Rs 70.80 or 2.54 per cent. SJVN zoomed 6.08 per cent. The company has won the full quoted capacity of 100 MW Wind Power Project at Rs 2.90 per unit on Build Own and Operate basis through e- Reverse Auction.
At 11:20 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex jumped by 5011 points and trades at 60,356 levels. While, the S&P BSE Mid-Cap has soared by 447 points and trades at 24,874 levels. The Small-Cap index has too rocketed by 749 points and trades at 28,002.
The Nifty 50 index witnessed a significant gain of 144 points and is trading at 17,951 levels. Similarly, the Bank Nifty climbed by 458 points and is now trading at a level of 42,126.
On December 23, the foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) turned out to be the net sellers 706.84 crores, while the domestic institutional investors (DIIs) were the net buyers of shares worth 3398.98 crores.
