At the pre-opening bell, the frontline index S&P BSE Sensex opened in red with a loss of 415.57 points or 0.55 per cent. By 9.17 am, the index stood at 74,837.88, signifying a gain of 473.18 points or 0.63 per cent over its previous closing.

On the sectoral front, in the pre-opening session, metals jumped by 0.74 per cent, power zoomed by 0.88 and auto soared by 0.68 per cent.
