At the pre-opening bell, the frontline index S&P BSE Sensex opened in red with a loss of 81.60 points or 0.10 per cent. By 9.15 am, the index stood at 79,951.76 signifying a loss of 44.84 points or 0.06 per cent over its previous closing.
On the sectoral front, in the pre-opening session, metals soared by 0.22 per cent, power jumped 0.47 and auto rose by 0.24 per cent.
