Top three stocks that saw heavy demand from buyers in the pre-opening session today
These three stocks were the top gainers on BSE in the pre-opening session today.
At the pre-opening bell, the frontline index S&P BSE Sensex opened in green with a gain of 240.77 points or 0.40 per cent. By 9.15 am, the index further strengthened to 59,970.40, signifying gains of 420.5 points or 0.71 per cent.
On the sectoral front, in the pre-opening session, metals shined by 0.70 per cent, power strengthened by 1.74 per cent whereas auto surged by 0.1 per cent.
Meanwhile, Torrent Power Ltd, Indian Hotels Co. Ltd and Star Health and Allied Insurance Company Ltd emerged as the Top Gainers of BSE in the pre-opening session today.
Torrent Power Ltd, an S&P BSE 200 company, surged 6.07 per cent to trade at Rs 476.95 apiece. The company has not made any significant announcements of late. Hence, the rally in the share price could be driven purely by the market forces.
Indian Hotels Co. Ltd, an S&P BSE 100 company, rallied 5.64 per cent to trade at Rs 317.50 apiece. This surge comes on the back of strong Q3FY23 results. As per the exchange filing, the topline grew by 54 per cent YoY, whereas the bottom line grew by 403 per cent YoY.
Star Health and Allied Insurance Company Ltd, another S&P BSE SmallCap company, climbed 5.43 per cent to trade at Rs 527.95 apiece. Yesterday, the company announced its Q3FY23 results. As per the exchange filing, the company's net profit came in at Rs 210 crore YoY as against a loss of Rs 578 crore in the corresponding quarter last year.
