This PSU defence stock is the top-performing stock of 2022, so far; do you own it?

Some of the PSU stocks have fared attractive returns to investors on a YTD basis as well as in the past year.

Between the period of 2018 and 2020, the PSU stocks showed underperformance, owing to lesser flows in exchange-traded funds well as the economy not performing up to the mark. Beating the previous underperformance, the PSU stocks gained momentum after October 2020 with the BSE PSU index soaring around 106 per cent from October 2020 to date.  

The defence stocks hold a special inclination among the PSU baskets, owing to the predicted investment cycle for the coming five to ten years. The defence projects and their related procurements are usually long-term and substantial in quantity, which gives them the potential to grow very well. The shares of Bharat Electronics, Bharat Dynamics, and Hindustan Aeronautics have rallied decently well in the last one year. The rally has also extended over into PSU banks and energy names.
