These companies announced to offer dividends next week
The shares of financial, oil & gas, and technology companies were primarily driving the surge in headline indices. Besides, Nifty was able to surpass 17,150. While PSU banks, pharma, and healthcare equities fell, metals, consumer durables & media shares rose.
The barometer index S&P BSE Sensex climbed 712 points or 1.25 per cent to the 57,570.25 level at 3.30 pm on Friday. To reach 17,158.25, Nifty 50 index rose 228.65 points or 1.35 per cent. The domestic equity benchmarks underperformed the broader market. While S&P BSE Smallcap index surged 1.38 per cent, S&P BSE Midcap index soared 1.01 per cent.
There were more buyers than sellers in the market today. On BSE, 3,457 shares increased and 2,084 shares decreased while 135 shares remained unchanged overall.
Following a surge on Wall Street, the European stocks rose as Asian stocks declined. This came after dismal US GDP data, which signals that Fed would be less aggressive in its cycle of tightening.
