The frontline indices were trading with major losses in early trade. Negative global cues dented investors’ sentiment. All the sectoral indices on the NSE traded in the red. HAL, Ujjivan Financial Services will trade ex-dividend and Continental Securities will trade ex-split today, March 20, according to the BSE website. 

On Wednesday, the Sensex increased by 377.75 points to close at 60,663.79, while the Nifty 50 gained by 150.20 points to close at 17,871.70

At 11.30 am on Thursday, the headline equity indices, i.e. Sensex and Nifty 50 were trading flat, owing to weak global cues.    

The shares in Asia Pacific markets are trading lower after Wall Street ended its five-day winning rally as Federal Reserve again warned that it will monitor the inflation data and market conditions closely in order to decide the next pace of tightening despite the cooling of inflation levels in the month of July.   

After data revealed that the US economy shrank for the quarter ended March 2022, the benchmark indices are trading with moderate gains, headed by financials, IT, and oil & gas equities.

The Indian markets open in red amid weakness in the global markets. Oil prices decline after rallying for three days.
