At 11.15 am Monday, the core equity indices i.e., Sensex and Nifty 50 were trading marginally on the lower side as the Asian markets were jilted due to the data released by China, indicating that the Chinese factory activity had contracted in the month of April.  

BSE Smallcap index closed in the red territory at the 29,474.70 level, down by 0.75 per cent.

BSE Smallcap index outperformed broader markets by closing in the green territory at 27,811.06, up by 0.38 per cent
