On Monday, the Indian equity markets broke their winning spell from the previous week on the first trading session of this week. The benchmark indices Nifty 50 and Sensex closed in the red territory at 17,675 and 58,964.57 levels, down by 0.61 per cent & 0.81 per cent, respectively.
BSE Smallcap index outperformed the broader markets, closing at 29,880.07 with gains of 0.38 per cent. The Top Gainers of the index include Sandur Manganese & Iron Ores, Shiva Cement, Lasa Supergenerics, and Ester Industries. The top losers comprise Suzlon Energy, McLeod Russel India, Tejas Networks, and Brightcom Group.
