During early market hours on Wednesday, bears seemed to have gripped Indian equity markets on the back of exacerbating geo-political tensions among Russia and Ukraine. At 11:50 AM, frontline benchmark indices Nifty 50 and Sensex are trading at 16,561.30 and 55,301.57, down by 1.39 per cent and 1.68 per cent, respectively.
Top blue-chip gainers include Tata Steel, Titan, Mahindra & Mahindra, Power Grid Corp, Wipro and Reliance Industries. Top losers dragging headline indices lower comprise of Asian Paints, Maruti Suzuki, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank and Kotak Mahindra Bank.
BSE Smallcap index has held its ground, trading in green at 26,694.06, up by 0.12 per cent. Top gainers holding the fort are Tata Metaliks, Godawari Power, KIOCL, Vishwaraj Sugar, Yaari Digital and Aegis Logistics. Top losers putting a drag on the index include CreditAccess Grameen, Eveready Industries, JTL Infra, Brightcom Group, Sagar Cement and Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra).
