Stocks below Rs 100: Only buyers seen in these scrips on August 5

At market close on Friday, the headline equity indices, i.e. Sensex and Nifty 50 ended on the higher side after RBI hiked the repo rate by 50 basis points as was expected by analysts & economists.

The repo rate is at 5.40 per cent now whereas standard deposit facility (SDF) and marginal standing facility (MSF) rates stand at 5.15 per cent & 5.65 per cent, respectively.  

The shares in Asia-Pacific markets have been unfazed by China’s military drills on Taiwan, and are thus, trading higher on the bourses.  Shanghai Composite rose 1.19 per cent while Japan’s Nikkei is trading higher by 0.87 per cent.   

The US stock futures were trading flat as the US jobs data is yet to be released for July. Nasdaq Composite ended higher by 0.41 per cent whereas S&P 500 index dropped 0.26 per cent.  

Sensex closed at 58,387.93, up by 89.13 points 0.15 per cent whereas Nifty 50 ended the session at 17,397.50, up by 15.50 points 0.09 per cent. Nifty Bank is up by 0.44 per cent at the 37,920.60 level.  

The FIIs bought equity worth Rs 1,474.77 crore on Thursday (August 4) while the DIIs sold equity, a net of worth Rs 46.79 crore.    

Crude oil is trading at $88.08 per barrel whereas the 10-year US Treasury yield is at 2.69 per cent.   

The Top Gainers in Nifty 50 pack are UtlraTech Cement, Shree Cement, ICICI Bank, UPL, and Bharti Airtel. Meanwhile, the Top Losers pulling down the index are Hindalco Industries, Britannia Industries, Mahindra & Mahindra, Eicher Motors, and Reliance Industries.    

BSE Smallcap index closed at 27,605.06, up by 0.23 per cent. The top gainers in the pack were Bhagiradh Chemicals & Industries, Filatex India, Subex, GTL Infrastructure, and Precision Wires. Each of these stocks gained more than 8 per cent. Similarly, the top losers were Venky’s India, Welspun Corporation, Gujarat Alkalies & Chemicals, and Garware Technical Fibres.  

On the sectoral front, BSE Telecom inched higher by 1.34 per cent, BSE IT climbed 0.72 per cent while BSE Private Bank ended 0.43 per cent higher.
