The Indian headline indices continued to rise against a backdrop of strong global cues. In the early trade, the benchmark index BSE Sensex gained more than 300 points and crossed the crucial 60,000 level. Nifty 50 also surged, regaining the 17,900 mark.
The indices reversed some of their earlier gains and finished slightly higher while BSE IT and BSE Teck sectors led the way with gains of 2.06 per cent & 1.59 per cent, respectively. The session's biggest dragger was BSE Telecom.
Along with the main indices, the broader markets also gained. Themis Medicare led BSE Smallcap pack in gains. As the company announced its final dividend of Rs 5 per equity share, its shares experienced a surge in the volume of over 24 times and soared more than 13 per cent.
The shares of 3i Infotech, Allcargo Logistics, and Nazara Technologies were heavily bought, climbing over 11 per cent each. The top low-priced gainers on BSE were Anupam Finserv and Titaanium Ten Enterprise, locking in a 20 per cent upper circuit.
