Shares below Rs 100: Only buyers were seen in these stocks on December 19!
The top BSE Smallcap gainer, shares of GOCL Corporation, soared more than 17 per cent and kept small-cap bulls busy.
In response to dismal global cues, Indian headline indices opened flat but surprisingly moved higher despite the weakening of global indices. Except for the BSE IT and BSE Teck sectors, almost all sectoral indices were trading higher.
Eicher Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra both had gains of around 3 per cent, making BSE Auto the best-performing sector. Power, energy and FMCG stocks also experienced significant gains. The top BSE Smallcap gainer, shares of GOCL Corporation, soared more than 17 per cent and kept Small-Cap bulls busy.
At 3:30 pm, the BSE Sensex surged 0.76 per cent, reaching a level of 61,806. The Nifty 50 index climbed 0.83 per cent to the 18,420 level. On the Sensex, Mahindra & Mahindra, Power Grid Corporation of India and Bharti Airtel were the Top Gainers, whereas Tata Consultancy Services, Infosys and Tata Motors were the Top Losers.
After drawing investors' attention on Friday, sugar stocks kept up their strong upswing and recorded notable gains on Monday as well. The top gainers from the sugar industry on the BSE were Piccadilly Sugar & Industries, Dhampure Speciality Sugars and Rajshree Sugars & Chemicals, which were locked at 20 per cent upper circuits.
