Shares below Rs 100: Only buyers were seen in these stocks on December 15!
Shares of Orient Green Power Company, the top BSE Smallcap gainer, rocketed over 13 per cent, keeping small-cap bulls busy.
The Federal Reserve hiked interest rates by 50 basis points overnight, which caused a fall in Wall Street indices. In response to weak economic indicators, the majority of global indices suffered a decline. Indian headline indices started off marginally lower but then rapidly declined the entire session.
With the exception of BSE Oil & Gas, all sectoral indices ended the session lower, with metal and information technology stocks suffering the greatest losses. More than ten sectors experienced heavy selling and slumped more than 1 per cent.
At 3:30 pm, the BSE Sensex plunged 1.40 per cent, reaching a level of 61,799. The Nifty 50 index tumbled 1.32 per cent to the 18,414 level. On the Sensex, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries and NTPC Ltd were the only gainers, whereas Tech Mahindra, Infosys and Titan were the Top Losers.
Despite its decline, the BSE Smallcap index maintained its stability and outperformed the main indices, with the majority of stocks trading higher. National Fertilizers Ltd and Mahindra CIE Automotive Ltd both experienced significant buying.
