Sensex, Nifty gain; Bajaj Finance gains 8.44 per cent, IndusInd Bank jumps 7.71 per cent, Larsen & Toubro surges 6.99 per cent
Sensex closed Tuesday’s session up by 680.22 points or 1.60 per cent from Monday’s close to end the session at 43,277.65 levels while Nifty was up by 170.05 points or 1.36 per cent at 12,631.10 levels.
In today’s trading session, finance and bank stocks emerged as the major gainers while IT and healthcare stocks became the major losers.
In global markets, Asian indices such as Nikkei index, KOSPI, and Hang Seng rose by 0.26 per cent, 0.23 per cent, and 1.10 per cent, respectively while Shanghai index was down by 0.40 per cent. European indices such as FTSE 100 and CAC 40 were seen trading in positive, up by 1.10 per cent and 1.27 per cent, respectively whereas, DAX was down by 0.11 per cent.
The top Sensex gainers included Bajaj Finance that went up by 8.84 per cent, IndusInd Bank gained 7.71 per cent, L&T zoomed by 6.99 per cent, Bajaj Finserv strengthened by 6.44 per cent while HDFC rose by 5.62 per cent.
Top Sensex losers consisted of Tech Mahindra that decreased by 5.73 per cent, HCL Technologies went down by 5.36 per cent, Nestle India slipped by 4.08 per cent, Infosys fell by 3.98 per cent and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries declined by 3.66 per cent.
In the broader markets, BSE Small-Cap index and BSE Mid-Cap index decreased by 0.48 per cent and 0.40 per cent, respectively.
Amongst sectoral indices, BSE Bankex Index and the finance index were the best performing sectoral indices, gaining by 3.67 per cent and 3.93 per cent, respectively; BSE Capital Goods went up by 3.04 per cent, BSE Realty and Oil & Gas gained by 2.26 per cent and 2.01 per cent, respectively while BSE Utilities and BSE Energy inched up higher by 1.38 per cent and 1.73 per cent, respectively.
BSE IT index and BSE Healthcare index were the major losers, which declined by 3.71 per cent and 3.61 per cent, respectively.
