Sensex, Nifty gain; ABB jumps by 5 per cent, CONCOR tumbles 7 per cent
On Friday, Sensex jumped by 552.90 points or 1.34 per cent to settle at 41,893.06 levels while Nifty gained by 143.25 points or 1.18 per cent to close at 12,263.55 levels.
In the global markets, Asian indices such as Shanghai index decreased by 0.24 per cent, Hang Seng closed flat; Nikkei and KOSPI increased by 0.91 per cent and 0.11 per cent, respectively. European indices such as FTSE 100, DAX, and CAC 40 were trading down by 0.11 per cent, 0.85 per cent, and 0.67 per cent, respectively.
Sensex gainers included RIL that went up by 3.78 per cent, Bajaj Finserv surged by 3.71 per cent, IndusInd Bank jumped by 3.43 per cent, HDFC Bank gained by 3.01 per cent, Kotak Mahindra Bank increased by 2.54 per cent, HDFC rose by 1.82 per cent, etc.
Sensex losers consisted of Maruti Suzuki that went down by 2.65 per cent, Bharti Airtel plunged by 1.67 per cent, Asian Paints tumbled by 1.34 per cent, UltraTech Cement decreased by 1.24 per cent, Nestle India fell by 1.22 per cent, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries decreased by 0.69 per cent, etc.
Amongst sectoral indices on BSE, the energy index was the biggest gainer, up by 3.16 per cent whereas, the telecom index fell by 0.92 per cent.
