Sensex closes in red affected by weak global cues
Of the few stocks which managed to escape the bear sentiment - KIMS, JSW Energy and Brightcom Group were the Day’s Movers.
The markets opened with weakness taking a clue from their global counterparts over US inflation of 7.5 per cent for January 2022, highest since 1982.
The benchmark indices Sensex recovered to some extent after shedding a massive 1012 points after logging an intraday low of 57914 to close at 58152.92 with a loss of 1.31 per cent or 773 points while the Nifty closed at 17374.75 with an equal loss of 1.31 per cent or 231 points.
The negative sentiment extended to the broader markets with BSE sectoral indices closing in red territory. BSE 500 closed at 23662.95 with a loss of 1.44 per cent or 346 points.

Krishna Institute of Medical Science Ltd ( KIMS) surged 5.22 per cent after it announced strong Q3 results yesterday. The Hyderabad based hospital reported a jump of 72 per cent in net profit at Rs 82.22 crore on YoY basis. The stock logged an intraday high and low of Rs 1389.45 and Rs 1294.45 to close at Rs1365.95.
JSW Energy Ltd rallied 5 per cent in today’s trading session to close at Rs 340.30 which was today’s intraday high. The stock has rallied 7.7 per cent in the last one week.
Brightcom Group of Companies, the highly volatile multibagger stock of 2021 was among the biggest losers in the BSE A list last week. The stock has rallied 4.99 per cent in today’s session. The stock closed at Rs 157.70 with an intraday high and low of Rs 157.70 and Rs 143.10.
