Sensex and Nifty end in red, dropping over 1 per cent as market slumps!

Sensex closed lower by 1.15 per cent and closed at 80,220.72, while Nifty closed lower by 1.19 per cent and closed at 24,486.55 level.

Market Update at 3:35 PM: On Tuesday, Benchmark indices concluded the trading day on a negative note as Sensex closed lower by 1.15 per cent and closed at 80,220.72, while Nifty closed lower by 1.19 per cent and closed at 24,486.55 level. Similarly, the Broader market, Nifty Midcap closed lower by 2.61 per cent at 56,174.05, while Nifty Smallcap closed lower by 3.92 per cent and closed at 18,061.00. Today's sharp decline was triggered by profit booking, along with negative sentiment from falling Asian markets impacting investor confidence in India.

Market volatility, as indicated by India VIX, rose by 4.22 per cent and is trading at the level of 14.34 reflecting a rise in market volatility.

Within the sectoral landscape, no sector emerged as Top Gainers, while Nifty PSU Bank, Nifty Realty and Nifty Metal are the sectors which underperformed.

ICICIBANK, and NESTLEIND were among the top gainers while on the other hand M&M, BEL, and ADANIENT were among the Top Losers.

About 166 stocks were advancing as against to 2,206 that were declining, thus indicating a negative sentiment in the broader market.

Market Update at 12:45 PM: In the current trading session benchmark indices are trading negative, with Sensex trading lower by 0.55 per cent while Nifty trading lower by 0.65 per cent. Similarly, in the broader indices Nifty Midcap down by 1.85 per cent, while Nifty Smallcap down by 3.05 per cent.

India VIX rose by 4.36 per cent and is trading around the mark of 14.36 indicating a rise in market volatility.

European markets are set for a mixed opening Tuesday, following negative sentiment in Wall Street and Asia. The FTSE 100 is expected to drop 15 points to 8,306, while Germany’s DAX may rise 68 points to 19,522. France’s CAC is likely to increase by 2 points to 7,533, and Italy’s FTSE MIB could gain 8 points to 34,798.

Within the sectoral landscape no sector is among the top gainers while Nifty Realty, Nifty PSU Bank, and Nifty Metal are the sectors which are underperforming.

ICICIBANK, NESTLEIND, and ULTRACEMCO are among the top gainers within the Nifty 50 while, ADANIENT, BEL, and M&M are among the top losers.

About 221 stocks are advancing as against to 2,140 stocks that are declining, thus indicating a negative sentiment in the broader market.

Market Update at 9:45 AM: On Tuesday, Indian markets opened on a positive note, with both Nifty and Sensex showing positive movement. Nifty IT led the gains and Nifty Realty was the biggest laggard.

As of now, the Sensex is up by 0.30 per cent, hovering around 81,405, and Nifty is up by 0.25 per cent, trading near 24,840. Similarly, in the broader market, the Nifty Midcap declined about 0.21 per cent to about 57,560, and the Nifty Smallcap is down by 0.82 per cent, trading near 18,640.

India VIX down by 0.29 per cent and is trading at 13.72, indicating a slight fall in market volatility.

Within the sectoral landscape Nifty Fin Service, Nifty IT and Nifty Bank are among the top gainers while Nifty Realty, Nifty Metal and Nifty PSU Bank are underperforming.

SHRIRAMFIN, ICICIBANK, and TECHM are among the top gainers within the Nifty 50 while TATACONSUM, TATASTEEL, and M&M are among the top losers.

About 675 stocks are advancing as against to 1,585 stocks that are declining, thus indicating a negative sentiment in the broader market.

Pre-Market Update at 8:00 AM: The Dow Jones and S&P 500 dropped on Monday after hitting record highs last week, as rising Treasury yields and high valuations made investors cautious ahead of major earnings reports.

The S&P 500 is down 10.69 points (0.18 per cent) to 5,853.98, the Nasdaq climbed 50.45 points (0.27 per cent) to 18,540.00, and the Dow declined by 344.31 points (0.80 per cent) to 42,931.60.

The GIFT Nifty is trading slightly positive, indicating a flat or positive start for the day. Nifty futures were trading at 24,755.00.

The U.S. 10-year Treasury yield stands at 4.194 per cent, while the 2-year bond yield at 4.024 per cent.

Oil prices dropped on Tuesday, trimming the previous day's 2 per cent gain, as U.S. diplomatic efforts in the Middle East and weak demand in China weighed on the market.

Brent crude fell 0.3 per cent to $74.03, while WTI December futures slipped 0.3 per cent to $69.81.

On October 21 2024, foreign institutional investors (FII) sold shares worth Rs 2,261 crore, while domestic institutional investors (DII) bought shares worth Rs 3,225 crore.

Stocks that are banned for trading in the F&O segment on October 22, 2024, are AARTIIND, BANDHANBNK, BSOFT, CHAMBLFERT, GNFC, GRANULES, HINDCOPPER, IDFCFIRSTB, IEX, INDIAMART, LTF, MANAPPURAM, PEL, PNB, RBLBANK, SAIL.
