Seeking the best equity funds? Here are best performing equity MFs in the first half of FY23

Equity markets performed poorly in the first half of FY23. There were, however, funds that did well. In this post, we have identified top-performing equity mutual funds in the first half of FY23.

The start of FY23 was pretty dismal for the financial markets, as markets (Nifty 50) began to fall. Although it recaptured the high set in April 2022, it failed to surpass it.

In terms of the broader market, the Nifty 500 fell 1.71 per cent in the first half of FY23. However, when it comes to equity mutual funds, 70 per cent of equity funds (excluding index funds and ETFs) beat Nifty 500, while 84 per cent outpaced Nifty 50.

The funds focused on the auto, infrastructure, and consumption themes have outperformed other categories of equity mutual funds, as seen in the table above. On the other hand, funds focused on industries such as technology, energy, and pharmaceuticals underperformed.

In fact, the favourites of 2021 overseas funds fell precipitously as well. However, in this post, we have compiled a list of the top ten best-performing funds in the first half of the fiscal year 2023.
