Indian equity indices closed in the red on Thursday, weighed by IT stocks due to the U.S. reciprocal tariff announcement. The Sensex closed almost 322 points or 0.35 per cent lower at 77,293, while the Nifty 50 closed 42 points or 0.72 per cent lower at 23,250. The index is still trading below 200-DEMA and took support of 50-DEMA on an intraday basis. The Nifty Bank closed 250 points higher and settled at 51,597, outperforming benchmark indices.

On the NSE, benchmark index Nifty 50 recorded a 28.31 crore volume, whereas the last 20-day average volume stands at 33.51 crore.

Broader indices traded with modest gains and closed higher, where Nifty Mid-Cap jumped by 0.21 per cent, while Nifty Small-Cap ended higher by 0.52 per cent. India VIX hovered around the 13.5 mark and was down by 0.89 per cent during the day.
