Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) is taking significant strides in accelerating India's transition to electric mobility by expanding its public EV fast-charging network. The company plans to install nearly 600 fast chargers across the country over the next seven years, with a focus on key highways and major cities. By the end of 2024, HMIL aims to have a network of over 50 fast public charging stations. This ambitious initiative demonstrates HMIL's commitment to providing convenient and accessible charging solutions to EV owners.

HMIL's existing public charging network has already been utilized by over 10,000 EV customers, including Hyundai and other brand owners, with a total energy usage exceeding 7.30 lakh units. To further enhance the charging experience, HMIL's myHyundai app offers access to over 10,000 EV charging points across India, in collaboration with various service providers. This strategic partnership allows EV owners to seamlessly charge their vehicles across the country, making long-distance travel more convenient and hassle-free.

HMIL's commitment to promoting EV adoption extends beyond infrastructure development. The company has actively partnered with the Tamil Nadu government to establish 100 EV charging stations by 2027, with 10 stations already operational in 2024. These 24/7 charging stations are conveniently accessible to all EV owners in Tamil Nadu through the myHyundai app. HMIL's charging stations are designed to be inclusive, accommodating all 4W EVs manufactured in India. They are strategically located at prominent locations with additional amenities like coffee shops, restaurants, and shopping areas. Additionally, marshals are available at most stations to assist customers, and 24/7 CCTV surveillance ensures a secure environment.

HMIL's charging network is strategically spread across major cities like Gurugram, Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, and Chennai. The company has also established a pan-India network by setting up charging stations on key highways, including Delhi-Chandigarh, Delhi-Jaipur, Hyderabad-Vijayawada, Mumbai-Pune, Mumbai-Surat, Bengaluru-Pune, and Pune-Kolhapur. HMIL's charging stations are equipped with advanced technology, offering multiple charging configurations: DC 150 kW + DC 60 kW + DC 30 kW or DC 150 kW + DC 30 kW or DC 60 kW.

By combining extensive infrastructure, advanced technology, and strategic partnerships, HMIL is playing a pivotal role in shaping India's EV future. The company's efforts to expand its charging network, coupled with the growing availability of electric vehicles, will significantly contribute to a cleaner and more sustainable transportation ecosystem.

Commenting on the announcement, Mr. Jae Wan Ryu, Function Head – Corporate Planning, HMIL said, “The EV market is expected to grow robustly by 2030. Studies conducted by HMIL have highlighted that customers are apprehensive about driving their EVs for long-distance commutes on highways due to a lack of charging infrastructure. Keeping this in mind, HMIL has taken the initiative of installing fast EV chargers on key highways, in addition to major cities. With access to HMC's global EV and battery technology, HMIL is well-positioned to build a comprehensive EV ecosystem in India. We are actively investing in infrastructure to support the expected growth in demand for electric vehicles."
