Despite trading lower throughout the session, the utilities and telecommunications stocks-driven closing rally helped Indian benchmark indices end the session marginally higher. Broader indices outperformed main indices by a significant margin. The BSE Sensex edged up by 0.08 per cent to 59,549 level at the close. The Nifty 50 index edged up by 0.07 per cent to a level of 17,662.

Mahindra & Mahindra - Shares of the company closed the session more than 3 per cent higher, making it one of the Top Gainers on the BSE Sensex. On the BSE, shares experienced a surge in volume and reached a 52-week high of Rs 1,384.95 per share.
UltraTech Cement - Shares surged more than 3 per cent today as the company announced that the UltraTech Cement Middle East Investments Limited (UCMEIL), a wholly owned subsidiary of the company in UAE, has entered into a share sale and purchase agreement with Seven Seas Company LLC (Oman) for acquisition of 70 per cent equity shares in Duqm Cement Project International LLC.
Bank of Baroda - With majority banks posting significant gains ahead of the Union Budget, shares of Bank of Baroda surged nearly 6 per cent. The gainers that drew investors with their strong uptrend included Bank of India, Punjab National Bank and Bank of Maharashtra.
