Indian headline indices were heavily pulled down by steep losses in the auto and consumer durables sectors while metal, power and utilities sectors attempted to offset losses with considerable gains. The BSE Sensex plunged 0.90 per cent to 59,806 level at the close. The Nifty 50 index slumped 0.93 per cent to a level of 17,589.

Tata Steel - Both analysts and investors appeared to be bullish on the stock as they believed that the company's underperformance in the last one year had been overdone. In a weak market, shares experienced significant buying pressure and finished the session 1.55 per cent higher, making it the top Sensex gainer.
Mahindra & Mahindra - Shares of the automotive company tumbled more than 3 per cent, making it the worst performer on both the BSE Sensex and BSE Auto sectoral index. Shares have fallen by more than 8 per cent in the last month. For the month of February 2023, the company reported a healthy growth in overall auto sales.
State Bank of India - The bank announced that it has raised Rs 3,717 crore through its third Basel III compliant Additional Tier 1 bond issuance in the current financial year on Wednesday at coupon rate of 8.25 per cent. Shares of the bank fell more than 1 per cent today following a significant rally in recent sessions.
