Overnight Digest: Stocks likely to be in focus on September 22

Watch out for these stocks for Thursday's trading session.

The domestic benchmark indices traded with substantial volatility ahead of Fed Policy announcement. Sensex ended 262.96 points or 0.44 per cent lower at 59,456.78 level while Nifty settled 98 points or 0.55 per cent down at 17,718.30 level.  

Shree Cement, Adani Ports, IndusInd Bank, Power Grid Corp, and UltraTech Cement were among the major Nifty losers while gainers included Britannia Industries, ITC, HUL, Apollo Hospitals & Coal India.  

On the sectoral front, FMCG index was in the lead, gaining up to 1 per cent while capital goods, oil & gas, realty & power indices lost between 1 and 2 per cent each.  

Watch out for these stocks for Thursday's trading session - 

HDFC Bank - Under the multi-year agreement, comprehensive access to Refinitiv’s data & products will enable HDFC Bank to realise new customer opportunities and fast-track its innovation agenda while reducing the total cost. The agreement enables innovation as well as cost savings across multiple bank divisions including wealth management, capital markets & global markets, risk, compliance, and customer onboarding. The shares of HDFC Bank have closed flat, up by 0.05 per cent on Wednesday. 

Info Edge (India) - The company’s board of directors has approved entering into an agreement to invest about Rs 80 crore in Metis Eduventures Private Limited (Adda247) as the primary acquisition of shares. Adda247 is engaged in the business of delivering educational services and assistance to students preparing for examinations through software technology platforms. The shares of Info Edge (India) settled 0.12 per cent up on Wednesday.   

Swaraj Engines - Mahindra & Mahindra proposed to buy an additional 17.41 per cent stake in Swaraj Engines for Rs 296 crore. Reacting to the same, the shares of Swaraj Engines Ltd (SEL) hit a fresh 52-week high of Rs 1,945, jumping 15 per cent during Wednesday's intraday trade. M&M's revised stake in SEL would advance from 34.72 per cent to 52.13 per cent. Hence, SEL would become a subsidiary of the company, which was previously an associate.  

Price volume breakout stocks - In a subdued market today, some of the stocks that were able to stand out and record a price volume breakout included Brightcom Group, Strides Shasun, Advanced Enzyme Technologies, Jindal Stainless, and Infibeam Incorporation.
