Overnight Digest: Stocks likely to be in focus on December 20

After showing a relief in previous session, the benchmark indices were again caught by bears and ended lower with Nifty below 17000 level and selling seen across the sectors apart from IT. The benchmark indices ended the trading session with Sensex being down 889.40 points or 1.54 per cent at 57,011.74 level, and the Nifty slipping 263.20 points or 1.53 per cent at 16985.20 level.

In the broader markets, the BSE midcap and smallcap indices down over 2 per cent each.

Keep an eye on these stocks for Monday's trading session:

Hindalco Industries - The company has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Hydro’s aluminium extrusions business in India for an enterprise value of Rs 247 crore. This acquisition from Hydro, the Norway-headquartered aluminium and energy company, brings into the Hindalco fold, an integrated facility located in Kuppam, Andhra Pradesh, an experienced team of employees and the ability to serve a robust portfolio of reputed customers. The stock of Hindalco Industries has ended 0.11 per cent on the lower side in Friday's trading session.

Tech Mahindra - The company announced a strategic collaboration with the SOVICO Group, a leading investment group in Vietnam, to enable digital transformation for the SOVICO Group. The Memorandum of Understanding was signed to drive technology-led transformation for SOVICO across sectors including aviation, banking and insurance, and retail. The stock has made a fresh 52-week high price in Friday's trading session. 

Bharti Airtel - The stock of Bharti Airtel has underperformed the benchmark indices and has dipped 2.28 per cent in Friday's trading session. The company announced on Friday that it has paid Rs 15,519 crore to the Department of Telecom (Government of India) towards prepayment of the entire deferred liabilities of spectrum acquired in an auction of the year 2014. The RSI, as well as MACD indicators, are trading with a downward inclination and hence, the stock is likely to be in focus on Monday.

52-week high stocks - Along with Tech Mahindra, in BSE 500 pack, the stocks of Birlasoft, Grindwell Norton, Persistent Systems, K.P.R Mills have made fresh 52 week high.
