Overnight Digest: Stocks likely to be in focus on August 18

On Wednesday, the bulls on Dalal Street held on to the momentum going up as Sensex crossed the psychological 60,000 mark whereas Nifty travelled towards the 18,000-level due to softening inflation and robust FII buying in the current month.
PSU banks and IT stocks pushed Nifty higher; however, some profit booking was seen in auto stocks. Meanwhile, HDFC twins regained all initial losses, which led to a recovery in Bank Nifty from lower levels.

UPL - UPL announced a new collaboration with Oro Agri, a Rovensa company, for the co-distribution and further development of Orange Oil, a bio-solution effective against a wide range of pests & diseases. The shares of UPL ended flat during Wednesday's trading session and are likely to be on investors' radar for the upcoming trading sessions.
Paint stocks - The shares of paint companies like Asian Paints, Berger Paints, Kansai Nerolac, Akzo Nobel, and Indigo Paints were seen trading higher, continuing gains. In the previous trading session, the global oil benchmark touched a six-month low mark as a large drop in US oil and gasoline stocks directed investors that demand remains firm.
Bajaj Hindusthan Sugar - The shares of Bajaj Hindustan Sugar tumbled over 12 per cent during Wednesday's trading session. The move came a day after State Bank of India (SBI) filed an insolvency petition in National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) against the company. SBI has filed the petition in Allahabad bench of NCLT. Keep an eye on this stock on Thursday.
Price volume breakout stocks - In a cheering market today, some of the stocks that showed a price volume breakout with attractive gains are Happiest Minds Technologies soaring 11 per cent, Edelweiss Financial Services gaining 8.46 per cent, Sun Pharma Advanced Research Company zooming 5.14 per cent, Havells India & Zydus Wellness being more than 3 per cent up at the close. These stocks are likely to be eyed on Thursday.
