Opening movers: These stocks witnessed heavy demand from buyers in the pre-opening session today!
The rally in one of the gainers came on the back of a significant order win while another company gained because of robust financial results announcement.
After taking a hit of 0.54 per cent in the previous trading session, the frontline index S&P BSE Sensex opened in the green today at the pre-opening bell. The index stood at the level of 54,354.46, which was a gain of 605 points or 1.13 per cent higher.
Further, the broad market index S&P BSE 500 was up by around 0.3 per cent. Similarly, S&P BSE Midcap and S&P BSE Smallcap indices were trading higher by around 0.7 per cent & 0.5 per cent, respectively. Speaking about the sectoral indices, metals were up by 1.38 per cent, power by 0.8 per cent whereas energy gained 0.24 per cent.
During this time, in the pre-opening session, BEML Ltd, Bharti Airtel, and Polyplex Corporation from Group A witnessed a significant rally in their share price.
BEML Ltd, an S&P BSE 500 company, gained nearly 9 per cent in the pre-opening session to trade at Rs 1,411.70 apiece. BEML is a Schedule 'A' Company under the Ministry of Defence, Govt of India. This rally came on the back of an order win worth approximately Rs 198 crore received from KMRCL on May 24, 2022, for Kolkata Metro East-West project.
Bharti Airtel Ltd, the telecom service provider, was up by 6.56 per cent during the same period. At 9.07 am, the company’s shares were trading at Rs 332.40, as against the previous closing price of Rs 311.95 on BSE.
Polyplex Corporation Ltd, an S&P BSE Smallcap company, zoomed 5.94 per cent to trade at Rs 2,246.50 apiece at 9.07 am. The price increase came after the company released its results for the quarter and year ended March 31, 2022, on Wednesday post-market hours. During the quarter, on a standalone basis, the revenue from operations increased 45.5 per cent YoY to Rs 514.60 crore.
