November Auto sales numbers
The auto players continue to go through rough drive in the month of November 2019.
Maruti Suzuki, the leader in the passenger car space, has registered a decline in the auto sales for November 2019. It announced a fall of 1.9 per cent in total sales in the last month. It sold total 150,630 units in November 2019, which includes 143,686 units in the domestic market and 6,944 units in exports. It has registered a de-growth of 3.3 per cent YoY in sales of domestic passenger vehicles. Also, exports sales degrew by 7.7 per cent YoY. The company has recently introduced two new models: XL6, launched in August 2019, and S-Presso, rolled out in September 2019.
Bajaj Auto posted a decline in sales by 1 per cent in November 2019, with 403,223 units being sold. The sale of motorcycles declined by 1 per cent YoY and CV sales dropped by 1 per cent YoY.
Mahindra & Mahindra posted 9 per cent decline in the total sales for November 2019. Passenger vehicles sales declined by 10 per cent YoY and Utility vehicles sales declined by 6 per cent YoY. On the export front, sales declined by 26 per cent YoY
Escorts, the leader in the Agri-machinery segment, posted 4.5 per cent YoY decline in total sales for November 2019. Domestic tractor sales registered a degrowth of 3.4 percent in November 2019 with only 7,379 tractors being sold against 7,641 tractors in November 2018. Export registered a degrowth of 27.7 percent with 263 tractors being sold against 364 tractors sold in November last year.
Looking at the stock movements of the auto makers, the stock of Maruti Suzuki made an intraday high of 72,98.85 (up by 0.7 per cent) and Bajaj Auto gained nearly 1 per cent. The stock of Escorts jumped nearly 2 per cent ,whereas, Mahindra & Mahindra declined around 1 per cent on the BSE.
