Nifty and Sensex close with nominal gains; telecom, auto and realty become top gainers

Nifty MidCap and SmallCap ended with pleasant gains of 1.75 per cent & 43.85 per cent, respectively.

Market Update at 3.30 PM: The indices erased almost all their gains when the European markets opened but managed to close on the higher side at the close of the trading session. Nifty 50 index closed at 15,842 levels while BSE Sensex ended the session at 52,973 levels.

Nifty MidCap and SmallCap ended with pleasant gains of 1.75 per cent & 43.85 per cent, respectively.   

BSE Telecom, realty, and auto sectors did well, gaining by more than 2 per cent each. On the other hand, BSE FMCG, IT, and Teck closed in negative. Nifty Metals witnessed major profit booking as it fell over 5 per cent. Nifty Energy and Nifty Realty slipped about 3 per cent each.     

Eicher Motors, Apollo Hospitals, UPL, NTPC, and State Bank of India emerged as the top gainers among Nifty stocks while UltraTech Cement, Shree Cement, Asian Paints & ITC were the top losers.

Market Update at 1 PM:  The benchmark indices have lost most of their gaining points and are trading with modest gains. Nifty is currently up by 0.22 per cent while Sensex climbed over 0.21 per cent. Sensex Midcap and Smallcap, on the contrary, are up by 0.84 per cent & 0.34 per cent, respectively.

Around 1,953 stocks are advancing while 1,317 stocks are declining, which shows an indication of slightly bullish sentiment in the market.  

The shares of telecom, realty & autos were in demand while IT, Teck, and FMCG stocks dragged the market down.  

Market Update at 11 AM: Nifty climbed 139 points whereas Nifty Midcap and Nifty Bank Nifty are trading 59 points & 602 points higher, respectively.      

On Sensex, banks, auto, metal & realty are trading higher while FMCG, information technology and teck sectors dragged the market.    

Eicher Motors, State Bank of India, and Tata Steel have emerged as the top gainers among Nifty stocks while Shree Cement, UltraTech Cement & Power Grid Corporation of India are in the red today.     

Meanwhile, India VIX is up by over 1.75 per cent.  

Market update at 9.30 AM: The Indian benchmark indices have opened higher while Nifty climbed 0.58 per cent. Sensex has gained about 357 points while the mid-cap, as well as the small-cap indices, are also trading higher by 0.89 per cent & 1.10 per cent, respectively.   

All the sectors are trading in the green while India VIX has gained over 2.52 per cent.   

ACC Ltd soared over 6.53 per cent, becoming one of the top gainers of Sensex. 

Pre-Market Update: On Friday night, the US Market witnessed a sharp recovery as investors regained confidence in the market. NASDAQ shot up by 3.82 per cent while S&P 500 increased by 2.39 per cent.   

The Asian markets i.e. Singapore stock exchange's trading of Nifty 50 index futures suggests that Nifty could climb.  

On Monday morning, the Asian stocks were neutral as investors awaited Chinese economic data. China will release figures for April industrial production, retail sales, and unemployment today.  

Nifty may open in green, following the positive sentiments in the global markets.
