With a net worth of Rs 3,037 crore, Byju Raveendran and Divya Gokulnath and Family rank 47th in India’s richest list 2021 by Forbes.
Byju Raveendran and his wife Divya Gokulnath have changed the face of education through BYJU's which is India’s most popular online tutorial platform. It has become the most valuable edtech enterprise in the world that has attracted marquee investors like Facebook, Tencent and General Atlantic. The company was co-founded in 2011 and after over a decade now, not only the Byju’s app has reached Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities but has also earned a name in rural areas.
Byju Raveendran, the founder of the new-gen app comes from a village in Kerala. After completing B.Tech in mechanical engineering he worked as a service engineer in a shipping firm. He got the idea of starting with his venture while helping his friend prepare for the CAT exam.
Today, the company has become a multi-billion dollar company. The pandemic gave it the break that it needed. Through strong marketing and promotional activities, there are no two ways for Byju’s becoming the top prep provider in the world. In 2021, it acquired various companies such as Aakash Educational service, Great Learning, Tynker and Grade Up and others to further boost its market share and wide presence.
This edtech giant is looking forward to becoming public through IPO in 2022. It is aiming at a high valuation of Rs 36,000 crore.
