Market Wrap: Benchmark indices close on a positive note with Nifty Auto and Nifty Metal among the top gainers!

Sensex rose by 0.78 per cent and closed at 85,836.12, while Nifty rose by 0.81 per cent and closed at 26,216.05 level.

Market Update at 3:35 PM: On Thursday, Benchmark indices concluded the trading day on a positive note as Sensex rose by 0.78 per cent and closed at 85,836.12, while Nifty rose by 0.81 per cent and closed at 26,216.05 level. However, the Broader market, Nifty Midcap closed flat at 60,469.15, while Nifty Smallcap closed lower by 0.50 per cent and closed at 19,261.30.

Market volatility, as indicated by India VIX, declined by 5.81 per cent and is trading at the level of 12.00 reflecting a fall in market volatility.

Within the sectoral landscape, Nifty Auto, Nifty Metal, and Nifty PSU Bank emerged as Top Gainers, while there are no sectors which underperformed.

MARUTI, GRASIM, and TATAMOTORS were among the top gainers while on the other hand CIPLA, ONGC, and LT were among the Top Losers.

About 1,079 stocks were advancing as against to 1,305 that were declining, thus indicating a negative sentiment in the broader market.

Market Update at 12:50 PM: In the current trading session benchmark indices have slightly dipped with Sensex trading higher by 0.38 per cent while Nifty trading higher by 0.39 per cent. However, in the broader indices Nifty Midcap declined by 0.66 per cent, while Nifty Smallcap declined by 0.55 per cent.

India VIX slightly declined by 4.63 per cent and is trading around the mark of 12.15 indicating a fall in market volatility.

European stocks surged at the open on Thursday, driven by strong overnight gains in Asia-Pacific markets. The pan-Eurnopean Stoxx 600 rose by approximately 1 per cent shortly after the opening bell, with nearly all sectors trading in positive territory.

The DAX in Germany and the CAC 40 in France both rose by over 1 per cent, while the U.K.'s FTSE 100 rose by 0.5 per cent.

Within the sectoral landscape Nifty Auto, Nifty Metal, and Nifty IT are among the top gainers while Nifty Realty, Nifty Pharma, and Nifty MID SELECT are the sectors which are underperforming.

MARUTI, NESTLEIND, and TATAMOTORS are among the top gainers within the Nifty 50 while, ONGC, CIPLA, and DIVISLAB are among the top losers.

About 1,038 stocks are advancing as against to 1,345 stocks that are declining, thus indicating a negative sentiment in the broader market.

Market Update at 11:35 AM: During the ongoing trading session, benchmark indices are showing a positive trend, with the Sensex up by 0.25 per cent and the Nifty rising by 0.24 per cent. However, in the broader market, the Nifty Midcap has declined by 0.53 per cent, while the Nifty Smallcap declined by 0.43 per cent.

India VIX declined by 5.18 per cent and is trading around the mark of 12.08, indicating a fall in market volatility.

In the sectoral landscape, Nifty Metal, Nifty Media, and Nifty PSU Bank emerged as top gainers, while Nifty Realty, Nifty MID SELECT, and Nifty Energy are the sectors which are underperforming.

Top gainers in individual stocks are MARUTI, TATAMOTORS, and BAJAJFINSV while, HEROMOTOCO, ONGC, and M&M are among the top losers in the Nifty 50.

The broader market sentiment is negative, with 1,033 stocks advancing compared to 1,334 stocks declining.

Market Update at 9:30 AM: On Thursday, Indian markets opened on a flat note, with both Nifty and Sensex showing minimal movement. Nifty IT led the gains, while Nifty Metal was the biggest laggard.

As of now, the Sensex is up by 0.22 per cent, hovering around 85,360, and Nifty is slightly up by 0.17 per cent, trading near 26,040. However, in the broader market performed, the Nifty Midcap dipped by 0.33 per cent to approximately 60,270, and the Nifty Smallcap declined 0.35 per cent, trading near 19,290.

India VIX declined by 2.90 per cent and is trading at 12.36, indicating a fall in market volatility.

Within the sectoral landscape Nifty IT, Nifty Realty, and Nifty FMCG are among the top gainers while Nifty Metal, Nifty Energy, and Nifty PSU Bank are the sectors which are underperforming.

MARUTI, WIPRO, and LTIM are among the top gainers within the Nifty 50 while HEROMOTOCO, ONGC, and HINDALCO are among the top losers.

About 985 stocks are advancing as against to 1,265 stocks that are declining, thus indicating a negative sentiment in the broader market.

Pre-Market Update at 8:30 AM: The Dow Jones and S&P 500 dropped on Wednesday, pulling back from recent highs boosted by China's stimulus package, as investors awaited key economic data and signs of future interest rate cuts.

The Dow fell 293.47 points, or 0.70 per cent, to 41,914.75. The S&P 500 slipped 10.67 points, or 0.19 per cent, to 5,722.26, while the Nasdaq edged up 7.68 points, or 0.04 per cent, to 18,082.21.

The U.S. 10-year Treasury yield is down by 15 bps to 3.77 per cent, while the 2-year bond yield dropped 11 bps to 3.55 per cent during early trading on Thursday.

The GIFT Nifty is trading firm, signaling a positive opening for the day. Nifty futures are currently trading at 26,130.90.

Oil prices were mostly steady on Thursday after a drop in the previous session. Higher fuel demand and declining stockpiles in the U.S., the largest oil consumer, balanced out concerns about demand in other regions, especially China.

Brent crude rose 9 cents, or 0.12 per cent, to $73.55 a barrel, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate increased 4 cents, or 0.06 per cent, to $69.73 per barrel.

On September 25, 2024, foreign institutional investors (FII) sold shares worth Rs 973 crore, while domestic institutional investors (DII) bought shares worth Rs 1,778 crore.

Stocks that are banned for trading in the F&O segment on September 26, 2024, are ABFRL, GRANULES, HINDCOPPER, IDEA, IEX.
