Market Wrap: Benchmark indices close on a positive note with Nifty Auto among the top gainers!

On Monday, Benchmark indices concluded trading day on a positive note as Sensex gained by 0.17 per cent and closed at 77,341.08 level, while Nifty surged by 0.16 per cent closed at 23,537.85 level.

Market Update at 3:40 PM: On Monday, Benchmark indices concluded trading day on a positive note as Sensex gained by 0.17 per cent and closed at 77,341.08 level, while Nifty surged by 0.16 per cent closed at 23,537.85 level. Whereas the Broader market experienced mixed performance as Nifty Midcap closed higher by 0.27 per cent, while Nifty Smallcap declined by 0.1 per cent.

Market volatility, as indicated by India VIX, has surged by 6.66 per cent and is trading around the level of 14 reflecting an increase in market volatility.

Within the sectoral landscape, Nifty Auto, Nifty FMCG and Nifty Financial Services were among the top gainers, while Nifty Media, Nifty PSU Bank and Nifty Metal were among the top losers.

M&M, Power Grid Corporation and Shriram Finance were among the top gainers while on the other hand Cipla, Indusind Bank and Adani Ports were among the top losers.

About 1145 stocks were advancing as against to 1151 that were declining, thus indicating a neutral sentiment in the broader market.

Market Update at 2:15 PM: In the current trading session benchmark indices trade on a positive note with the Sensex trading higher by 0.11 per cent, while Nifty marginally gained by 0.08 per cent. Similarly, in the broader indices Nifty Midcap has surged by 0.34 per cent, while Nifty Smallcap has gained by 0.07 per cent.

India VIX is currently trading higher by 7.21 per cent and is trading around the level of 14 indicating an increase in market volatility.

Within the sectoral landscape, Nifty Auto, Nifty FMCG and Nifty Financial Services are among the top gainers while Nifty Media, Nifty Metal and Nifty PSU Bank are among the major sectors which are underperforming.

Power Grid Corporation, Sun Pharmaceutical and Apollo Hospitals are among the top gainers while Indusind Bank, Cipla and Adani Ports are among the top losing stocks from the Nifty 50.

About 1231 stocks are advancing as against 1065 stocks that are declining, thus indicating a positive sentiment in the broader market.

 

Market Update at 12:35 PM: In the current trading session benchmark indices trade on a positive note as Sensex has moderately gained by 0.24 per cent, while Nifty has gained by 0.19 per cent. Similarly, in the broader indices Nifty Midcap has gained by 0.38 per cent, while Nifty Smallcap has soared by 0.11 per cent.

India VIX is has surged by 6.18 per cent and is trading around the mark of 14 indicating an increase in market volatility.

European stocks are expected to start the new trading week in mixed territory. European futures DAX and CAC trade higher by 0.07 per cent and 0.22 per cent while FTSE trades lower by 0.18 per cent respectively.

Within the sectoral landscape Nifty FMCG, Nifty Auto and Nifty Pharma are among the top gainers while Nifty Media, Nifty Realty and Nifty Metal are among the top losers.

Sun Pharma, Power Grid Corporation and Apollo Hospitals are among the top gainers within the Nifty 50 while, Indusind Bank, Adani Ports and Cipla are among the top losers.

About 1335 stocks are advancing as against to 945 stocks that are declining, thus indicating a positive sentiment in the broader market.

 

Market Update at 11:10 AM: In the ongoing trading session, Benchmark indices are trading on a positive note with Sensex trading higher by 0.09 per cent, while Nifty gained by 0.05 per cent. Similarly, in the broader indices Nifty Midcap experience gains of 0.25 per cent, while Nifty Smallcap has surged by 0.06 per cent.

India VIX is has surged by 4.34 per cent and is trading above the mark of 13, indicating an increase in market volatility.

Within the sectoral landscape, Nifty FMCG, Nifty Auto and Nifty Pharma are among the top gainers while Nifty Media, Nifty Realty and Nifty PSU Bank are among the top losers.

Top gainers in individual stocks are Sun Pharma, Power Grid Corporation and M&M whereas Indusind Bank, Cipla and Adani Ports are among the top losers in the Nifty 50.

The broader market sentiment has turned positive, with 1325 stocks advancing compared to 925 stocks declining.

 

Market Update at 9:35 AM: On Monday, Indian markets started the first trading day of the week on a negative note with Nifty and Sensex declining. Similarly, in the broader indices Nifty Midcap 100 and Nifty Smallcap 100 also traded significantly lower. Furthermore, Nifty FMCG was among the top gainers while Nifty PSU Bank was the biggest loser.

Sensex is trading moderately lower by 0.43 per cent, while Nifty is also trading lower by 0.49 per cent.  Similarly, in the broader indices Nifty Midcap is trading significantly lower by 0.81 per cent, while Nifty Smallcap has plummeted by 0.93 per cent.

India VIX has surged by 3.13 per cent and is trading above the mark of 13, indicating slight increase in market volatility.

Within the sectoral landscape Nifty FMCG is the only major sector which is trading positively while Nifty PSU Bank, Nifty Metal and Nifty Media are the major sectors which are trading negatively.

ICICI Bank, Sun Pharma and ITC are among the top gainers within the Nifty 50 while Indusind Bank, Cipla and Tata Steel are among the top losers.

About 710 stocks are advancing as against to 1387 stocks that are declining, thus indicating a negative sentiment in the broader market.

 

Pre-Market Update at 8:30 AM: The S&P 500 and Nasdaq closed slightly lower on Friday, primarily due to a second consecutive day of declines in Nvidia shares, which weighed heavily on the technology sector.

Technology emerged as the weakest performer among the 11 major S&P 500 sectors, dropping 0.84 per cent, while communication services led the gains.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average edged up by 15.57 points to 39,150.33. The S&P 500 fell by 8.55 points, or 0.16 per cent, to 5,464.62, and the Nasdaq Composite declined by 32.23 points, or 0.18 per cent, to close at 17,689.36.

The US 10-year and 2-year Treasury yields remained steady in early Monday trading.

The GIFT Nifty indicates a negative start for the Indian Benchmark indices, with a slight decline of 0.3 per cent or 71 points. Nifty futures are currently trading near the 23,460.20 mark.

Oil prices declined in early Asian trading on Monday for the second consecutive session, pressured by a stronger dollar and renewed concerns about prolonged higher interest rates, which dampened investors' risk appetite.

Brent crude futures dropped 40 cents, or 0.5 per cent, to USD 84.84 a barrel, following a 0.6 per cent decline on Friday. U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures fell 39 cents, or 0.5 per cent, to USD 80.34 a barrel.

On June 21, 2024, foreign institutional investors (FII) offloaded shares worth Rs 1,790.19 crore, while domestic institutional investors (DII) purchased shares worth Rs 1,237.21 crore.

Stocks that are banned for trading in the F&O segment on June 24, 2024, are BALRAMCHIN, CHAMBLFERT, GNFC, GRANULES, HAL, HINDCOPPER, INDUSTOWER and PEL.
